Dear CSINext Valued Members,
As the new season approaches, I’d like to take this opportunity to formally introduce myself as your new Chapter President. Thank you for your continued support of our chapter and the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) at large.
Our 2024–2025 Board is composed of the following talented individuals:
I would also like to extend a special thank you to our Past Past President, Kathryn Marek. I had the pleasure of first meeting you at the CSI Pacific Northwest Regional Conference in 2018. Your enthusiasm, talent, and outstanding work with CSI inspired me to join this virtual chapter and become more involved in the organization. Congratulations as well on your role as this year’s president of SCIP!
A bit about myself: I reside in Whitby, Ontario, and work for Northern Facades, a division of the Flynn Group of Companies, as a Technical Sales and Business Development Lead for both the US and Canada. I have been part of the ICI construction industry for the past 15 years, with the last 10 years focused on Building Envelope Solutions for exterior wall assemblies. Staying up to date with new and upcoming energy codes, I work to provide fabricated product solutions that mitigate thermal bridging and help turn architectural renderings into reality.
As an advocate for women in construction, I am proud to have served as the past president of the Canadian Association of Women in Construction (CAWIC), which is the official international affiliate of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC). As a mother of a three-year-old son, I emphasize the importance of women building both their families and their careers. I continue to support initiatives that create more opportunities for women to advance in our industry.
In addition, I am a member of the International Institute of Building Enclosure Consultants (IIBEC), the Rainscreen Association in North America (RAINA), and Construction Specifications Canada (CSC).
If you are attending the CSI National Conference from October 16–18, 2024, I’ll be there along with fellow board members Mark Ogg and Lane Beougher. We would love to connect, continue the conversation, and explore new opportunities with CSINext.
Best regards,
Luana Buratynski
