SpeakerTan Diep of Vitro Architectural Glass.

Understanding Low-E Coatings discusses the benefits of specifying high performance architectural glass to improve the energy efficiency of buildings while reducing their operating costs and carbon emissions. The course will help learners differentiate between passive and solar control low-E coatings and different glass performance measure. Finally, the course will analyze how low-E coatings can improve energy efficiency and help the project earn LEED credit contributions. 

Learning Objectives:

  1. Review the solar energy spectrum and common glass performance measures.
  2. Understand manufacturing processes for pyrolytic and magnetron sputter vacuum deposition (MSVD) low-e coatings
  3. Review how passive and solar control low-e coatings differ and impact glass performance measures.
  4. Understand commercial energy usage, and how low-e coatings can improve energy efficiency and help earn LEED® credit contributions

Speaker's Bio:

Tan Diep, CSI, CCPR, LEEP AP
Architectural Manager, West Region Vitro
Before joining Vitro Architectural Glass in 2017, Tan Diep spent five years as an Architectural Manager in California for PPG Architectural Coatings. He worked for Akzo Nobel dba Glidden Professional as an Architectural Specification Representative, and he previously represented Sloan Valve Company and Legrand North America working closely with in the construction specification market. He began his career with Environmental Contracting Corp (General Contractor) focusing on high end commercial tenant improvement projects within the Southern California market. Among his specialties are his knowledge of sustainable products and designs, and he is a LEED AP from USGBC.
