Presentation:

For new or existing concrete the most important part of a polished concrete finish is the slab itself. However, most project teams treat polished concrete as they would carpet, tile, or other floor finishes when it comes to sequencing and specifying. This leads to substitutions, schedule overruns, and poor outcomes. In this course we will review common misconceptions, benchmarks, and approaches that lead to bad slab and polish finishes as well as steps to create truly sustainable, beautiful architecturally exposed structural concrete (AESC).

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand Curing vs Drying
  2. Ingredients: Learn what to keep in and what to keep out
  3. Review terminology that enables substitutions and destroys design intent
  4. Discover specification benchmarks that increase safety, sustainability, and diminish risk to Owner and Project team

Learning Units will be provided: Yes
