About this Course:
The session will include a lot of “home truths”, some learning points will be provocative, and some attendees my find the content unpleasant. But that is what happens when we challenge long held principles for project coordination and approaches to specification writing.

The session will introduce potential communication strategies between trades and the constructor that have not previously been developed, and will discuss the individual contributions by trades that need to be accounted for when specifying performance criteria for concrete floor substrates and floorcoverings.

The session is not targeting or blaming any single contributor to the Gap that currently exists between Division 03 and Division 09; whether the gap is caused by the specification, the constructor or the trades involved with the work… there is a way forwards that is acceptable to all project participants and protects the Owner’s interests.

The session will focus on three aspects of Awareness, Understanding and Action. We know there are issues

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand CLT and its structural characteristics including strength and shrinkage properties.
  2. Explore reasons for selecting CLT as a building material such as schedule, site and labor constraints, as well as performance.
  3. Discover how a new specification can eliminate coordination issues in the floor assembly.
  4. Learn the benefits of filling the gap between the concrete and finish trades and how to benefit the entire project.

Learning Units will be provided: Yes (LU)
