President's Message August 2016

I swore to myself that I wasn’t going to write one of those messages that starts out saying “Where has the year gone” but as I sit down to prepare my message I’m really in a state of confusion as to where did the year go? But with that I think of the great 2016 that CSINext, the Chapter continued in a very stable and self sustaining manner, the Board made decisions to advance the Chapter and we had really GREAT programs at each meeting. We say a huge thank you to both Ann Baker for her leadership of the Chapter as President and to Randy Watterson who served as Secretary. Luckily, Ann will be staying on the Board to keep me focused. Randy is moving on to other things but we will look forward to him participating in the Membership meetings as often as he can.

As we look into this year (with a month of it already gone) Mark Ogg, will be working to assist Ann in keeping me focused. Mark has brought so many unique program opportunities to the Chapter over the last year – I can’t wait to see what he has up his sleeve. Longtime Board Members, Cindy Belisle and Daniel Hargreaves continue to serve the chapter in so many ways and we are beyond fortunate to be the beneficiaries of their energy. We also are thrilled to have Lane Beougher rejoin the Board after his year on loan to the Institute. We are always interested in having new people assisting with the chapter so if you are interested don’t hesitate to let any of us know.

CONSTRUCT is upon us as well (have I mentioned – “Where did the year go?”) . Though as a Chapter that meets on a virtual platform we will be having a get together in Austin and we certainly welcome any member or interested party to join us at the CSI booth on Friday Sept 9 11 am, upon the show floor opening. We won’t have a formal meeting but just want to take the opportunity to meet face to face those we have not had the pleasure or reconnect with those we have known for years.

Finally, in quick turn around, our first Chapter meeting will be the following week on Wednesday September 14th – Noon Eastern. The program will be about using drones in construction. Please look for more information on the website.

We are off to a good year, and before you know it – I”ll be saying “Where did the Year go” and I’ll be looking back and not forward. Wishing you all a very safe and happy Labor Day
