Who’s Sick

I don’t know if it is my age or environment. But I use to rarely get sick, now in the span of 6 months, I got hit with this crude going around not once, but twice. Both times have been right after I flew back from Dallas. Maybe I’m just allergic to Dallas and it becomes a cold. Actually, I remember the first time. I was sitting on the plane and the person behind me cough on the back of my head. I was thinking to myself as my hair moved…. ‘Dude, cover your mouth’.

This one was a killer... As I noted before, I have usually dodged the bullet of getting sick. Or at least when I do get sick, I do it big (I will share my Cancer story in a future blog). After running a fever for 3 days, I went to the doctor. It wasn’t the flu and did not have strep throat. No signs of pneumonia, just a bacterial infection of some sort. The Doctor put me on antibiotic, and in a couple of days I was feeling a little better. At the end of the 10 days, I finished the antibiotic and the fever came back the next day.

I went back to the doctor and they put me on a super antibiotic. By the second day, I was feeling good and at the end of it all the cold was gone. I should note, that up to this point, I have never been on an antibiotic. Just lucky I guess. But on the first round of the antibiotic, I did not have anything to compare it to. The second round, I get better really quick, so this must be how they are supposed to work.

Fast forward 6 months and I picked up a similar cold. This wouldn’t be so bad, I would stay home and get some rest. But the timing of this is bad, I have a project deadline today. I will get it done and posted and probably crawl back home.

Just like a healthy set of documents, it starts with an understanding of what it should look like. When construction documents are released, you may think this is healthy. But if you are being bombarded with questions and RFI’s. You may need to evaluate your approach to the documents. As I always try to do, leave the ego at the door and learn from past experiences. That way you will know what to expect.

…and now for something completely different.
You burn more calories sleeping than you do watching television.
