Presentation:

Presented by: Dan Barringer with Virtual Reality Immersions

About this Course:

Join Dan as we explore how designing 3D geometry changes when using real-time rendering (gaming software). Using case studies, including a Tito's Bar & Grill, Phoenix Community, Sawmill Town Center, and Fairfax Residence. Techniques will be demonstrated that assisted in egress studies, construction systems, lighting including sun and shadow, exterior views, material and finish selection, understanding human scale and human interaction. Case study projects were created in Revit and converted into Unreal Engine and viewed through the Oculus Quest VR headset. These same skills can be used with Unity, Twinmotion, Prospect, The Wild, and Enscape and other real-time software.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understanding how the use of Real-Time Rendering changes the design process to analyze the health, safety and welfare of buildings.
  2. Compare where Real-Time Animation is best used to understand and communicate design objectives using Virtual Reality versus 360 animations.
  3. Learn how the advances of Real-Time Rendering are changing architectural design and the built environment through greater client interaction.
  4. Compare the different techniques of using Real-Time Rendering for the selection of materials.

Learning Units will be provided: Yes (LU)

About the Speaker:

DAN BARRINGER
leed ap id+c, ncarb, ohio architectural registration

Dan has co-founded VRADII to combine the knowledge of architecture and game design to Virtual Reality Immersions. Through the combination of these two disciplines, Dan is transforming 2D virtual learning and understanding of science and technology into a 3D virtual reality allowing a great understanding by the participants.

With over 23 years as an NCARB registered architect, Dan Barringer has been involved in all aspects of architecture from assessments, surveys, program of requirements, design and space planning, construction documents and detailing, material selection and specifications, to construction administration. Dan’s focus has always been on the use and development of computer-aided electronic media towards architectural design, presentation and the production of construction documentation. Since his undergraduate presentation using the first architectural CAD software printed on 8 ½ x 11 pieces of paper taped together to being of the development team of IBM/SOM AES architecture Software to applying his Building Information Modeling to architectural projects world wide, Dan has been been a part of conveying the physical world in electronic media.
