Speaker: Robert Popp, CSI, CCPR

This program provides an in depth look at the testing and codes relating to Air Barrier Systems.  The presenter will discuss performance testing, new code requirements’ and proper specification of an Air Barrier System.  Participants will understand what an Air Barrier Association of America evaluated air barrier assembly must go through to become an ABAA Evaluated System.

Learning Objectives:

  • Understand the benefits of air barrier systems to the environment, building owner, and occupants.
  • Discuss performance test standards relating to air barrier systems, including the NFPA 285 fire test.
  • Examine the IECC 2007, IECC 2012, and ASHRAE 90.1 and their impact on air barrier systems.
  • How to properly develop a performance specification for an Air Barrier System.

Robert Popp, CSI, CCPR is the Senior Architectural Representative for D7S. He is a published author and a graduate of Texas A & M School of Architecture with his expertise being in Environmental Design. He has been the speaker at over 160 AIA Learning Unit programs. Some of his areas of expertise are; air barriers, wall design and water repellent technologies. He currently is a member of the Air Barrier Association Education and Outreach Committee and is the program chair for Dallas CSI.  He also serves as vice president and newsletter editor for Fort Worth CSI.
