A lively discussion on most of the elements that go into the manufacture of paints. Comparisons on durability of different types, as well as color and gloss retention. Also discussed will be VOCs in paint, where they come from, and what makes a paint low or zero VOC. There are some important lessons to be learned regarding the specification of paint.
This is a fun course, and we show pictures of a live demo with the ingredients that go into paint.

- Understand the four basic components of paint and their impact on paint quality and performance.
- Appreciate the improvements in Latex vs. (alkyd) Oil – base resin technologies.
- Understand the impact of paint air pollution regulations and limits of VOC – Volatile Organic Compounds – in modern coatings
- Understand the characteristics of quality paints and coatings
