CONSTRUCT, CONGRATULATIONS, & COMMISSIONING!

Hello everyone, happy September! Whew….what a month for CSINext! There is lots of information to cover….so hold on tight!!!

The month started off with CONSTRUCT 2017 in Providence Rhode Island. This was my second convention. This year I could attend the entire the conference and participate in the educational sessions. What an experience and what awesome presenters!! It was great connecting with the CSINext Board, CSINext Chapter members, meeting new friends and faces, and talking about CSINext.  Beyond the education sessions and convention floor itself what I took back home with me as I left Providence is the energy that clearly exists within CSI as a whole. From the institute level through the regions and local chapters the positive energy is amazing. The new partnership with BSD Speclink is going to be tremendous. Most conventions I have attended in the past not everyone is there because they want to be—CONSTRUCT is different in that regard—as everyone I interacted with had a passion for the industry and their part in it. It was amazing to spend a week with people who really have a passion for what they do!

CSINext members Lane Beougher & Daniel Hargreaves were both chosen to be presenters at this year’s conference. Lane, in conjunction with Sal Verrastro, presented on the AIA 2017 Revised General Conditions, Owner-Architect, & Owner-Contractor Agreements. Daniel presented on The Accessible Restroom – Why Doesn’t the ADA Just Give Me The Solution. Both sessions, well attended by convention attendees, were presented with excellence, and had great engagement from the audiences. Great job Lane & Daniel you did CSINext proud!!

As we move along several congratulations are in order for our chapter members and chapter sponsors:

Congratulation to all of you on your achievements!!!

CSINext held its first official chapter meeting of the year on Wednesday September 20th. The topic was “Commissioning – what it is, what it isn’t” presented by Mr. Mark Hayden with Heapy Engineering. The presentation covered the basic of facility commissioning, addressing it in project specifications and contracts, and insuring proper application in the field. I have had the pleasure of working with Mark for the last several months on a very large R&D project and he continually shows expertise in his field.

On tap for next month we have “The Mind of the Specifier” on tap. Mr. Paul Gerber with Archispectural Consulting Inc. will be presenting to the chapter on Wednesday October 11th at 12Noon EST – we hope you all can make it. Keep an eye out for the newsletter and registration link!!

Well folks, that is it for this month….like I said it has been a pretty busy one….but an exciting one!!

See everyone in October!!!

-Mark
