Artificial Intelligence is moving faster than any technology within recent memory, promising to change many aspects of specifiers' work. This session will bring clarity to what AI actually is, what it is good at, what it is not good at, and how you can prepare for a future that's coming at us quickly!

Learning Objectives:

1. Understand the current and up to date definition of AI
2. Learn difference between 'classic' AI and Generative AI
3. Learn what is prompting, and how to use Generative AI effectively
4. Understand the framework for the future of AI

Speakers Bio:

Hugh is CEO of The Link, a software company dedicated to making construction documents consumable for the field though innovative use of LLMs and deep knowledge of specifications. Prior to The Link, Hugh served as a general manager at the Construction Specifications Institute.

Hugh began his career translating specifications for welding wire for Taiwanese engineers, and has been passionate about ensuring problem solvers have the information they need ever since. Whether it’s TV production for Pepsi in China, or mechanical specifications for a building in Colorado, many of the same issues apply.

This interest in empowering problem solvers has found its natural expression in modern artificial intelligence, where Hugh has led teams building products in eLearning, machine vision, and now LLMs.

Hugh lives in Austin, Texas with his dog, Bob.
